At the first look, the ad really made me look back and said "Hey!! Nice Ad". It really did what an ad should do. And it did the same for some of my friends, folks.

Now, that I/you/many of us personally know through our experiences and others that they have not-so-good stuff inside the plane including the food, seats and so so.

As you sa, this ad doesn't re-instate whatever you have told here. Thinking back, I am thinking, should the ad convey a message. Why should we not have an ad that just says " I exist too" and indirectly convincing that it has virtues too by that fatherly pilot. Why not?

If there are any written/unwritten rules, probably they are breaking them.

Lazy,

It is okay to break rules. In fact, a good ad has to break as many rules as possible. But not at the expense of communicating. An ad like the Indian Airlines is just 30 seconds of hot air.

Look at it this way. This person had 30 seconds of white space, with which he could have drawn a an amazing picture. He could have created a masterpiece. He ended up drawing a picture of the sun rising over a hill. Very good picture, but something that is totally useless. And something very very normal.

And there's more. He could have written one simple word in that 30 seconds of white space.

I am all. He could have written it so well, that people would be forced to accept that Indian Airlines is indeed great. That it is powerful. And will satisfy whatever my wishes are.

Did he?
